Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Nose Surgery, or Rhinoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the shape or size of a nose. It commonly involves reduction of prominent hump or correction to the nose tip via the sculpting of bone and cartilage, in order to lead to overall better facial appearance for patients. In this region, a popular desired result from Rhinoplasty is elongation of the nose and refinement to the nose tip, in order to achieve an appearance otherwise known as a “Korean nose”.
There are generally two approaches to Rhinoplasty: the closed approach where incisions are made inside the nostrils; or the open approach where an additional inconspicuous incision is made across the columella, the bit of skin that separates the nostrils. In certain cases, an implant may be introduced to “lift” or increase size of the nose. Regardless of approach, the incisions are rarely visible and the effects dramatic.
