Ear
Surgery or Otoplasty is a cosmetic
surgical procedure to enhance the appearance
of a person’s ears. The procedure itself
takes many forms, and may involve the reduction
of over-prominent ears, the reshaping of bends
in the cartilage to achieve aesthetic results,
even the repositioning of the ears closer to
the head (also known as ear pinning).
In an Otoplasty, an incision
is usually made in the back of the ears to expose
the ear cartilage, following of which a combination
of moving, reshaping, adding, or removing of
structural ear elements are involved. Because
of the incision area, there is usually little
or no visible scarring.
